Cherokee County painting for I-575 subdivisions, lake roads and foothill homes
Most of Cherokee County's homes went up in the last thirty years, and a lot of them are now on their first or second repaint. We handle that work from the Cobb line up through Canton and the quieter roads north of it.

Painting in Cherokee County is mostly repaints of 1990s and 2000s subdivision homes: siding, shutters, front doors, trim and tired builder interiors, plus decks on wooded and lake-area lots. A typical exterior takes four to six working days. We walk the house, write the estimate, then schedule. Call (470) 458-0461 any time.
Cherokee changed quickly. Through the 1990s and 2000s, farmland along I-575 turned into neighborhood after neighborhood around Woodstock, Towne Lake, Holly Springs and Canton. The south end touches Lake Allatoona, and the north end still has pasture, gravel drives and homes set back in the hardwoods as the land climbs toward the mountains.
That growth wave means many houses here share a similar age, and they're hitting the same wall at the same time. Caulk has shrunk, shutters have chalked, and the original builder flat paint inside scuffs if you look at it. We see a lot of streets where three or four neighbors call within the same season.

How Cherokee County homes are built, and what their paint needs now
The common Cherokee house is a two-story traditional or craftsman-style home with fiber cement or hardboard lap siding, a stone or brick water table across the front, vinyl or wood shutters and a wood or composite front door. Earlier 1990s homes often have hardboard, which swells at the bottom edges where water sits. Later builds tend to use fiber cement, which holds paint well if the caulk joints are kept tight.
Downtown Canton and Woodstock hold older houses too, including frame cottages with wood siding and porches that have been painted many times. Out in the north county, ranch homes and farmhouses on acreage carry wood siding, metal roofs and outbuildings. Those older surfaces need more scraping and spot priming, and any house built before 1978 gets a lead test before we sand.

Work Cherokee County homeowners ask us for most
First full repaint on a 1990s or 2000s two-story
Pressure washing, cutting out failed caulk, priming bare spots and two coats on siding and trim. A 2,400 square foot house usually lands around $4,870 to $8,960, depending on height and repairs.
Exterior House PaintingShutters and front doors in a fresh color
Faded black or green shutters taken down or masked, cleaned and sprayed, plus a front door brushed in a durable enamel. It's a fast way to update a house between full repaints.
Front Door & Shutter PaintingSwollen hardboard siding repairs
We replace soft, swollen boards near grade and around downspouts, seal cut edges and prime before painting, so the bottom courses stop wicking water.
Wood Rot RepairBuilder interior repaints
Flat builder walls switched to a washable eggshell, ceilings refreshed and trim brought back to a clean semi-gloss, usually room by room so the family can stay in the house.
Interior House PaintingDeck staining on wooded lots
Cleaning, brightening and staining pressure-treated decks that sit under oaks and pines, where leaves and shade shorten the life of every coat.

What wears paint out faster in Cherokee County
Builder caulk at the end of its life
Twenty-year-old caulk at siding butt joints and window casings has usually split. Painting over it traps water, so we cut out failed beads and run new elastomeric caulk first.
Steep lots and walkout basements
Rolling ground means many houses are three stories tall on the back. That rear wall takes longer ladder or lift work and gets more sun, so it often fails first.
Damp, shaded north walls
Hardwoods and pines keep some walls wet into midday. Mildew and green algae show up there first, so we wash with a mildewcide and give those walls a slow dry before coating.
HOA color approval
Many Cherokee subdivisions keep approved color lists. We'll help you pull chips and samples so the paperwork is settled before the first ladder goes up.
Timing
Planning a Cherokee County paint job around the weather
North Cherokee runs a few degrees cooler than the south end of the county, so late fall and early spring mornings can sit below the label minimum for exterior paint. We start later on those days and finish coats with time to dry before dusk. Spring pollen is heavy here in March and April, and summer storms build most afternoons, which pushes exterior coats into the morning. Fall is usually the steadiest season, and winter is a good time for interiors and cabinets.
Questions
Painting questions from Cherokee County
Our Towne Lake area house still has its original siding. Should we replace it or paint it?
Usually paint it. Most of the siding on those homes is sound, with problems limited to the bottom boards and spots near downspouts. We replace the swollen or soft pieces, seal and prime them, then paint the whole wall so the new boards blend in. If more than a third of a wall is failing, we'll tell you plainly that replacement makes more sense.
Do you work on farm properties in north Cherokee County?
Yes. We paint farmhouses, ranch homes and outbuildings on acreage near Ball Ground and Waleska as well as subdivision homes near I-575. Rural jobs often include barn trim, board fencing or porches that need more scraping. We'll walk every structure you want done and price each one separately so you can pick what to do now. Call (470) 458-0461 to set that up.
How do you price the tall back wall on a walkout basement home?
We price it by the actual height and access, not just square footage. A three-story rear elevation over a slope may need a lift or extra ladder setups, which adds labor time. On a typical Cherokee two-story with a walkout, that rear wall adds roughly $640 to $1,380. Our painting price guide shows how height changes the total.
Can you match the stain on my Cherokee deck to the new railing boards?
We can get close. New pressure-treated boards need to dry out and be cleaned with a brightener before they'll take stain evenly. We test a few samples on spare boards, then pick the tone that blends the old and new wood. Semi-transparent and solid stains each handle mismatches differently, and we'll show you both. Our deck staining work covers the full prep.
